ABOUT MEWatercolor ArtistI have always been intrigued by color and the way subtle value changes can make the shift from a flat plane to a three dimensional shape. The "language" of watercolor, the way transparent pigment flows on the paper and then can explode with gusto or quietly blend using a wet into dry technique, this is what keeps me excited about this marvelous medium. And Campari.

Recent Series
After leaving my home in Milan in March 2020 as the coronavirus pandemic raged across northern Italy, I created this series from my "safe haven" in Florida. Entitled SQUSSI (Self Quarantine in the United States Series, followed by the number in the series), these paintings reflect empty spaces across Italy like those found during the lockdown...an unoccupied bench in the Cinque Terre, stacked chairs in a normally buzzing Milanese cafe, the satellite dishes bringing news from the outside world into locked-down dwellings, empty boats moored along the Ligurian coastline. They remind me of the turning point when all of our lives changed.
